The Pirate Bay is down. Eztv is also down.
This made me think “how safe is my sharing ability?” so I did a little digging to try to understand whois who, and I discovered that yts.re looks ready for playing a nice game of Global Thermonuclear War.
“Yts” is a domain name registered under at least 5 different ccTLD: .re .pm .sh .io .wf that are all under control of either AFNIC (France) or Internet Computer Bureau (United Kingdom). They were all registered using internet.bs (Bahamas). Each of the 4 nameservers replies with a 12-long list of IP addresses taken from a pool. I checked 12 of them and they looked like being located in different countries, mostly in Europe and Asia, except for a couple in the United States. The people running this thing are very good at it.
I also started to nostalgia about my old sharing habits and I compiled a list of stuff I’ve used or I’m currently using. I realized I know nothing about how the old protocols worked (not that I know much about DHTs -_-), gotta do some studying…
For the record, a handy link to the torrent for 2013 Freak & Chich by Immanuel Casto torrent.
